Long runs doom Lions in 3-0 loss at home to Cameron

Joplin, Mo. --  The Missouri Southern volleyball team fell in non-conference action tonight as the Lions dropped a 3-0 set to visiting Cameron. Individual set scores were 22-25, 20-25 and 20-25. 

Southern (4-17) led 20-11 in the opening set, but a 14-2 run for Cameron (6-15) gave the Aggies the first set. 

The second set saw two tied scores and two lead changes, but Cameron took a 4-3 lead early on and Southern didn't get any closer than two the rest of the set. 

The Lions opened up a 9-7 lead in the third set, but Cameron went on an 8-0 run to go up 15-9. The Lions got to within three on various occasions, but couldn't get any closer. 

Krishna Merriman led the offensive attack for the Lions with ten kills. Katie Politte added nine kills and ten digs, while Callie Whetstone had seven kills. Abby Finder added 33 assists, while Mikayla Avery had 16 digs. 

The Lions will be back in action this weekend as Southern travels to Fort Hays State on Friday and Nebraska-Kearney on Saturday.
