Southern volleyball falls 3-0 at Pittsburg State
Pittsburg, Kan. -- The Missouri Southern volleyball team finished its season today and fell on the road at Pittsburg State, three sets to none. Individual set scores were 13-25, 13-25 and 17-25.
The Lions (4-26, 0-16 MIAA) were led offensively by Payton Graves as she had a team-high six kills. Katie Politte and Krishna Merriman had four kills each, while Merriman added nine digs. Abby Finder dished out 13 assists, while Callie Whetstone and Cheyanne Crandall had six and four blocks, respectively.
Pittsburg State (16-15, 6-10 MIAA) was led by Madison Mosier and Abbie Smith with 10 and eight kills, respectively.
The first set saw two tied scores and one lead change, while the second set was led by Pitt State throughout. Set three saw 12 tied scores and three lead changes.
The Lions finish the season with an overall record of 4-26. Katie Politte finished sixth in the MIAA in kills per set with a 3.34 mark, while Abby Finder ranked eighth in the MIAA in assists per set. The team finished third in the MIAA in aces, while the Lions allowed the second-fewest digs per set in league play.
