Women's cross country picked to finish second in MIAA preseason poll

Kansas City, Mo.-- The Missouri Southern women's cross-country team has been picked to finish second in the preseason MIAA coaches poll, announced today by the league office.

The Southern women finished second at the conference championships last fall, behind Pittsburg State.

Checking in atop the coaches poll is the defending MIAA champion Pittsburg State, who collected ten of the twelve first place votes. Checking in second, the Lions collected the other two first place votes.  Truman State, Southwest Baptist, Northwest Missouri round out the top five.  Nebraska-Kearney, Fort Hays State, Central Missouri, Central Oklahoma, Lindenwood, Emporia State and Lincoln round out the poll.

The Lions will open up the 2012 season at the University of Arkansas on August 31.
