Women's cross country starts season at Arkansas

Fayetteville, Ark. -- The Missouri Southern women's cross country team opened up the 2013 season with a double-dual at the University of Arkansas, facing off with the Razorbacks and the University of Missouri. 

In a rare double-dual, the Lions faced off with both Arkansas and Missouri in separate competitions. Facing off with the No. 9 ranked Division I team, the Lions came in second to Arkansas as the Lady Backs had a perfect score against both Southern and Mizzou. 

Kaitlyn Belisle was the top runner for the Lions, traversing the 4k course in a time of 14:29. Dora Eastin finished in a time of 14:59, while Kindra Emberton had a time of  15:16. Sierra Gray and Addie Mengwasser finished in 15:20, while Dana Roberson had a time of 15:44. Lizzy Kirby (15:54), Kelly Jo Roberts (16:28) and Kayla Bartlesmeyer (16:40) all finished in front of the last Arkansas runner. 

The Lions, as a team had 50 points against Arkansas and 44 points against Missouri. 

Southern will be back in action in two weeks when the Lions will play host to the Southern Stampede on September 21.
