Women's Cross Country finishes 8th at Chile Pepper Festival

Fayetteville, Ark. -- The Missouri Southern women's cross country team placed eighth in the college division today at the 2013 Chile Pepper Festival hosted by the University of Arkansas. 

Dora Eastin was the top Lion performer today as she traversed the 5k course in a time of 18:55.6 and placed 57th in the college division. Addie Mengwasser was 81st with a time of 19:19.8, while Emily Harris and Sierra Gray had times of 19:47.9 and 19:50.1. Lizzy Kirby finished in a time of 19:59.3, while Kayla Bartlesmeyer completed the course in a time of 20:08.1. 

Dana Roberson finished the course in a time of 20:15.4, while Jet Hovis had a time of 20:24.3. Kelly Jo Roberts finished in a time of 20:27.6. 

The Lions finished with 205 team points, placing eighth in the college division. Augustana won the team title with 59 points, while West Texas A&M was second with 73 points. Tarleton State, Dallas Baptist, Iowa Central CC, Harding, New Mexico Highlands, Southern, Northwest Missouri and Southern Arkansas round out the top ten. 

The Lions will be back in action October 12, traveling to Rolla, Mo. to compete in the Jackling Jocks Invitational hosted by Missouri S&T.
