Southern women place fourth at 2013 MIAA Cross Country Championships

Pittsburg, Kan. -- The Missouri Southern women's cross country runners had four place in the top 41 and the Lions finished in fourth place overall at the 2013 MIAA Cross Country Championships, hosted by Pittsburg State University. 

Dora Eastin placed ninth individually to earn All-MIAA honors. She finished the 6k course in a time of 22:11.89. Addie Mengwasser placed 21st in a time of 22:51.46, while Emily Harris was 32nd with a time of 23:15.65. Kayla Bartelsmeyer placed 41st with a time of 23:32.29, while Sierra Gray and Lizzy Kirby placed 52nd and 53rd, respectively. 

Dana Roberson was 56th, while Jet Hovis finished 74th and Kelly Jo Roberts placed 80th. 

Southwest Baptist placed four runners in the top eight and won the team title with 32 points. Nebraska-Kearney was second, followed by Pittsburg State, Southern and Central Missouri to round out the top five. 

Fort Hays was sixth, followed by Northwest Missouri, Central Oklahoma, Lindenwood, Lincoln and Emporia State round out the team totals. 

The Lions will be back in action on November 9 when Southern travels to Augustana to compete in the NCAA Central Region Cross Country Championships.
