Sioux Falls, S.D. - The Missouri Southern women's cross country team finished 12th as a team at the Central Regional Championships today hosted by Augustana as junior Dora Eastin finished fifth overall to qualify individually for the NCAA Division II Cross Country National Championships.
The second highest MIAA finisher on the afternoon, Eastin raced through the 6k course at Yankton Trail Park in a time of 21:23.71 to earn All-Region honors. Sophomore Addie Mengwasser was the Lions' second finisher as she finished 42nd overall in a time of 22:33.93.
Sophomore Emily Harris finished 90th in a time of 23:23.65 while sophomore Dana Roberson came in right behind her in 23:26.77 to finish 98th overall. Freshman Lizzy Kirby was Southern's final scorer of the meet as she finished 105th overall in a time of 23:37.88. Freshman Sierra Gray and Kayla Bartelsmeyer rounded out the group of runners for the Southern as they finished 117th and 135th overall, respectively.
Minnesota-Duluth took home the team title as they scored 72 points. MIAA member Southwest Baptist finished second with 110 points. Augustana, Winona State and Mary (N.D.) rounded out the top five. Jennifer Agnew of Mary took home the individual title in a time of 20:26.57.
Eastin moves on to run at the 2013 NCAA Cross Country National Championship held in Spokane, Wash. on November 23.
