Shaun Buck is in his first year in his second stint as an assistant with the Southern athletic media relations office, but is no stranger to the department. It is his third year overall in this capacity and he has many years as a worker within the department.
As a student from 1997-2001, Buck was vital in the success of the department, serving as a primary contact for many sports, while helping out in every aspect of the department. During his time as a student assistant, Buck also served as a media cooridinator for the USA Baseball Tournament of Stars that was held annualy until recently at Joe Becker Stadium in Joplin. In the spring of 2011 Buck was selected as one of three official statisticians for the NCAA D-II Women's Elite Eight hosted by Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph. Buck has also served the past three summers as the Gamechanger coordinator for Premier Baseball Junior Championships held in the Joplin area. In addition to the Premier Baseball Junior Championships; Buck also worked for the Springfield Cardinals, the double A affialate of the St. Louis Cardinals, in 2013 and 2014.
Buck, who earned his Bachelor's Degree in Communications from Southern, also has a masters in education administration/athletics administration from William Woods. He is a 1997 graduate of Joplin High School and is a member of the College Sports Information Directors of America.
